Having used and valued them all his life, he is passionate about the idea and ethos of bothies and bothy culture, and is dedicated to ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy them in the same spirit. Professionally he is Communications Officer with Mountaineering Scotland and editor of ‘Scottish Mountaineer’ magazine.

Mountain Bothies Association (MBA) bothies are open to visitors. There is no need to book but you’ll need to bring all your own food, stoves and equipment. It’s a good idea to be prepared to camp as bothies can be busy.
